It seems that everywhere I look in the last week, I feel as if someone on the internet is targeting me specifically with Ads to "Meet Goths in your Area" and "Meet other Goths like you". What I wonder is, when did it change from "Meet single women in your Area" to "Meet Goths"?

I seriously think that the whole "Targeted Advertising" thing has been taken the whole wrong way. I mean, I may own a website that is geared slightly towards a more underground crowd (It doesn't HAVE to be the underground crowd, but the general population seems to be too retarded to find any decent music that doesn't have "Skimpy Girl #7" in the Credits of the Music Video) but does the fact that I own that site really make me a Goth?
I think Maddox of The Best Page in the Universe said it best when he said "I've been to some of the biggest gothic web sites on the internet and none of them have a consistent, universal or even coherent definition of what a "gothic" is." Because that really is the truth, no one really has a clear idea of what "Goths" are.
What really gets me is, if no one really knows what a "Goth" is, how can they target people like me for their advertising campaign? If they have no real definition of "Goth", then those advertisers don't actually know what their target audience is.

More than that, if these people are advertising to meet other "Goths" in their area, how can they even follow through on their promise? I mean, they don't even know what a "Goth" is, so how can they tell "Goths" in good faith that they would supposedly be meeting others like themselves?
I may not be going anywhere important with this, seeing as though it's almost 2am in the Morning and I have to get up early for Church. But I just find it funny is all, that people are making thousands, possibly millions of dollars on a market of undefinable people. And what gets me on top of that, is that if the people are undefinable, do they really exist at all?
